Verb to be

Olá pessoal!

Hoje conheceremos o verb "to be"." – Verbo “ser” ou “estar”

****Present tense: Presente

Abaixo o singular:

Singular	Contraído	Pronúncia IPA	Tradução
I am	I’m	ˈaɪ ˈæm  /  ˈaɪm	Eu sou  /  Eu estou
You are	You’re	ˈjuː ˈɑr  /  ˈjɔr	Você é  / Você está
He is	He’s	hiː ˈɪz  /  ˈhiːz	Ele é / Ele está
She is	She’s	ˈʃiː ˈɪz  /  ˈʃəz	Ela é  / Ela está
It is	It’s	ˈɪt ˈɪz  /  ˈɪts	Ele  - Ela é   / Ele - Ela está

Examples:

     Inglês                           Contraído                                   Tradução

  I am hungry                          I'm hungry                            Eu estou com fome

He is a tailor                         He's a tailor                              Ele é um alfaiate

She is beautiful                    She's beautiful                                Ela é bonita You are a student                  You're a student                      Você é um estudante

It is a long way                      It's a long way                       É um longo caminho

Abaixo o plural:

Singular	Contraído	Pronúncia IPA	Tradução
You are	You’re	juː ˈɑr  /  ˈjɔr	Vocês  são  / Você estão
We are	We're	ˈwiː ˈˈɑr  /  ˈwɪr	Nós somos  / Nós estamos
They are	They're	ðeɪ ˈɑr  /  ˈðer	Eles - Elas são / estão

Examples:

Inglês                           Contraído                                  Tradução

We are brazilians                 We’re brazilians                    Nós somos brasileiros

You are students                 You’re students                      Vocês são estudantes  
They are intelligent             They’re intelligent                    Eles são inteligentes

****Past tense: Passado

Para conjugar o "Past tense" você irá colocar “Was” no lugar de “am, is” e

“Were” no lugar de “are”.

Examples:

Singular:

I was hungry – Eu estava com fome

He was a tailor – Ele era um alfaiate

She was beautiful – Ela era bonita

You were a student – Você era um estudante

It was a long way – Foi um longo caminho

Plural:   

We were fat – Nós éramos gordos

You were students – Vocês eram estudantes

They were intelligent – Eles eram inteligentes

****Future tense: Futuro

Para conjugar o “Future tense” você irá utilizar o “Will be” logo após a pessoa, tanto no plural quanto no singular.

Examples:  

Singular:  

I will be free – Eu serei livre

He will be a tailor – Ele será um alfaiate

She will be beautiful – Ela será bonita

You will be a student – Você será um estudante

It will be a long way – Será um longo caminho

Plural:  

We will be loved – Nós seremos amados

You will be rich – Vocês serão ricos

They will be intelligent – Eles serão inteligentes
